Dorianne Galea is a Diagnostic Radiographer registered with the Council for the Professions Complementary to Medicine and practices at the local general hospital (Mater Dei Hospital) after successfully completing a 4 year course at the University of Malta in 2012. As a radiographer she works in several areas including General x-rays, Emergency x-rays, Health centres, Ultrasound, Dental x-rays, Fluoroscopy and Bone density. She also obtained her Master’s Degree in Vascular Ultrasound in 2019 after a 3 year part-time course at the University of Malta. The course also involved completing a research study and the research study was focused on assessing and improving the ticket of referral to the national vascular clinic.

 

Between the years 2015 and 2017 she also served as the Secretary of the Society of Medical Radiographers (SRM) where the role was crucial for the SRM Executive Committee in terms of correspondence, planning the agenda of the meetings, leading the meetings, helping in the organisation of CPD activities and also social activities. Since March 2020, she is currently the President of the Society of Medical Radiographers, Malta, leading a group of 10 radiographers in the SRM Executive Committee, who are working together as a team to promote and safeguard the future of the radiography profession in Malta. The Society of Medical Radiographers is a member of Malta Federation of Professional Associations (MFPA), the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS) and International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISRRT). Ms. Galea is also currently representing SRM as a council member of ISRRT in order to keep the networking relationship with the International Society.

Edward Farrugia Wismayer is a Radiotherapist registered with the council complementary to medicine-Malta in the Radiography register (European Union List) and working at the Oncology Centre in Malta- Sir Anthony Mamo since 2014. Mr. Farrugia Wismayer graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Radiography degree from the University of Malta and carried on to obtain a Master of Science degree in Management with the University of Liverpool. He also served as President of the Society of Medical Radiographers in Malta from November 2015 to February 2020 and is still an active member in the Society. 

 

In 2017 he was part of a competency assessment framework committee which was set up with the objective of setting specific competencies for the Radiography profession. He is also serving on the Allied Health Specialist Training Committee since 2019 whereby the committee is there to advise the Ministry of Health in Malta on such matters which relate to his appointment in the committee. Since 2019 he is the Manager for one of the partners (SRM) in the Erasmus+ EU project “Safe and Free Exchange of EU Radiography Professionals across Europe” with University of Ulster being the Co-Ordinator for the whole project. 

 

Edward intrinsically comprehends that the client is the sole most valuable asset of an organisation including one which is health focused. Therefore, he is driven by the inexorable pursuit of customer-driven focus, ideals and user experience, ensuring and pushing to provide the best service to the client. Edward enjoys travelling, swimming, going on hikes and planning the next adventure with his friends.
